BEYOND THE BRUSH. WE ARE THE SANCTUARY.
The Forbidden Fruit Project wasn’t born in a boardroom; it was born from the realization that “at-risk” is just a label used to silence “at-promise” youth. Based in North Carolina, we provide a high-voltage creative environment where kids aren’t told to sit still—they’re told to start something. We are the keys to the padlocks the world tried to put on their potential.
PSYCHOLOGY THROUGH THE LENS OF DEFIANCE.
We don’t just do arts and crafts; we facilitate neurological breakthroughs. For children trapped in “survival mode” by trauma or pressure, art provides a vital bridge to healing. When words are too heavy, charcoal and graffiti allow for total emotional offloading, while the tactile nature of clay and 3D modeling physically lowers heart rates to restore calm. By choosing every stroke and color, our students reclaim the agency and control that life has often taken away.
BREAKING THE CYCLE IN NORTH CAROLINA.
Our mission is proven by the shift in our students’ lives. We track our success through the milestones that matter:
- 75% STRESS REDUCTION: Creating art is scientifically proven to lower cortisol, moving the brain from “fight or flight” to “focus.”
- 85% EMOTIONAL LITERACY: Participants report a significant increase in their ability to identify and communicate complex feelings.
- 100% VISUAL VOICE: Every student leaves our program knowing their story belongs to them—and they have the power to rewrite it.
OUR MISSION
To empower youth at risk through art by providing a supportive and creative environment where they can explore their emotions, develop self-esteem, and build a creative platform for themselves and the community’s growth and development.
OUR VISION
To cultivate a vibrant, inclusive program where children can explore their artistic potential, develop confidence, and express themselves through a variety of art forms, fostering creativity and lifelong appreciation for the arts.
OUR VALUES
The arts provide a platform for the youth to navigate complex topics, discuss and decipher conflicting ideas to form their own opinions. Involvement in the arts help individuals make sense of the world, forge Connections between concepts and comprehend their place in society.
